While filming the “Sportfishing with Dan Hernandez” television show, we caught a very unusual Sevengill Shark. The fish was about 50 pounds and was caught using 20 lb test.
The influx of Sevengill sharks to the La Jolla area has been reported on by NBC 7, and their report can be found here. Although these sharks are not rare or endangered in anyway, they are definitely a rare sight to see onboard the Sea Star. This shark was caught north of La Jolla and made for some great San Digo sportfishing action!
